Independent mortgage broker

The right mortgage, found and explained

Whole-of-market advice for first-time buyers, remortgages and buy-to-let. We do the searching, the paperwork and the chasing.
ABOUT US
Doorstep Mortgages is a small, independent broker. We compare deals from across the market and stay with you until the keys are in your hand.
What we do

Three mortgages we arrange, and the cover that goes with them

Whether it is your first home, a better rate on the one you have, or a rental property, the process is the same: we listen, we search the whole market, and we handle the rest.
01

First-time buyers

Deposits, affordability, government schemes and what a lender actually looks for. We walk you through it from the first viewing.
02

Remortgage

Your fixed rate is ending. We check what your current lender offers against the whole market, and switch you if it pays to.
03

Buy-to-let

Rental cover, limited company or personal name, portfolio lending. We find lenders that suit landlords, not just homeowners.
04

Protection

Life cover, income protection and buildings insurance, arranged alongside the mortgage so nothing is left uncovered.
How it works

From first call to completion in four steps

No jargon and no chasing lenders yourself. Here is what happens once you get in touch.

A 20-minute call

We learn what you are buying, what you earn and what you can put down. No fee for the conversation.

A rate check within 24 hours

A shortlist of deals from the whole market, with the total cost of each spelt out.

We submit and chase

Application, valuation, lender questions and solicitor updates, all handled for you.

Offer and completion

We stay on the case until you have the keys, then diarise the date your rate ends.
Why Doorstep

Why people
come to us, and come back

Independent, fee-transparent and on your side. Here is what that means in practice.
01

Whole of market

Over 90 lenders on our panel, including ones that do not deal with the public directly.
02

Fee agreed up front

One fixed fee, told to you before we start. Most of our work is paid for by the lender.
03

One adviser throughout

The person you speak to first is the person who sees your case to completion.
04

Evenings and weekends

Calls and video appointments when you are free, not just office hours.
Fees

Simple fees, agreed before we start

Most of what we do is paid for by the lender. Where a fee applies, it is fixed, quoted in writing and only due once your mortgage offer is issued.

TESTIMONIALS

What our clients say

First-time buyers, movers and landlords on what it was like to work with us.
We were first-time buyers with no idea where to start. Doorstep Mortgages explained every step, found a rate our own bank had not offered us, and chased the solicitor so we did not have to.
Hannah Pryce
First-time buyer, Bristol
Our fixed rate was ending and the lender’s offer looked fine, until Doorstep showed us the difference over five years. The switch took three weeks and cost us nothing.
Tom and Aisha Rendell
Remortgage
Self-employed for two years and turned down twice. They knew which lenders would read my accounts properly, and the offer came through in nine working days.
Marcus Oyelaran
Self-employed buyer
Three buy-to-lets moved into a limited company, one adviser throughout, and every fee told to me before it was charged. I send my tenants’ friends to them.
Priya Nandakumar
Landlord, four properties
